Scary New Wage Data

This article might be useful in considering the budget plans being put forth by the Legislature and the Governor. “Every 34th wage earner in America in 2008 went all of 2009 without earning a single dollar, new data from the Social Security Administration show. Total wages, median wages, and average wages all declined, but at the very top, salaries grew more than fivefold.”

If your following whats happening in Wisconsin, this is just the beginning of wage decline. Sure we all must share the pain but why are the wealthy not sharing the pain? Why are the largest corporations not sharing any pain? People that claim to be tired of paying for others to get a free ride should be demanding that we end borrowing (40 cents for every dollar provided) for continued tax breaks for the wealthiest, or we end taxpayer subsidies for big oil and Ag. Exxon post over 40 billion in profits and we continue to subsidize their drilling with no benefits in return. They continue to gouge us at the pumps and at the federal level of corporate welfare. Breaking unions and taking from the working poor will serve no one in the long run as we have begun the footprints of becoming third world status.

Hey, Sue. What’s happening in Wisconsin is divide and conquer–turning the workers against each other while the wealthy and corporations look on and laugh at us. We should be sticking up for each other, saying that if the union people have the right benefit package, we SHOULD ALL have that benefit package. Instead we are trying to pull each other down into the abyss of losing our freedom to collectively bargain. What freedom will be next?
You don’t see the wealthy or Governor Walker offering to take wage and benefit cuts. From what I can see, the conservative (Republican) agenda for the U.S. is rape and pillage the people until there is nothing left to get, we all hate each other, and are digging in the dirt to make a living!
